I am interested in gathering biological activity through field data that would normally be invisible or difficult to perceive, and to translate it into another form, such as sound or visual imagery.
I work collaboratively with living plants & trees to transform their activity and hidden worlds into visual work.

These are some sounds gathered from living organisms using biotechnologies.

The encounters have become part of a living archive. I also record these findings within my own journal as an ongoing record of an evolving creative practice. The archive brings together observations, images, sounds, organisms, and environmental conditions, documenting the relationships that emerge through fieldwork.
My hope is my practice creates an evolving record of attention, listening, observation, and connection with the living world.
The artwork (above) is informed by the recorded sound of the Acer Davidii tree from the gardens of the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool. I have been able to translate the sound into visual form using a process I developed in TouchDesigner during the Summer. The tree’s sound have been turned into visuals for these two laser-engraved works,. It is a physical record of a living organism at a specific moment in time and place.
