Background
From a young age, I have always considered myself a free but restless spirit—a non-conformist who seeks the thrill of new experiences and the freedom to explore. I think I have inherited this restless spirit from my ancestors and their desire to venture far and wide. Immersing myself in the cultures and landscapes of distant places. My family’s adventurous spirit can be traced back to the days when my ancestors braved the stormy Atlantic seas aboard the Mayflower. I honestly think that my willingness to leave behind everything familiar in search of a new beginning in a land far from home is a legacy that has been passed down through generations.
Art has become my escape. It has provided me a refuge, a way to relax, reflect, and reconnect with myself. Over time, I began exploring photography and art. Creative practice has allowed me to express my emotions in a more abstract form.
As an emerging artist, I find myself deeply inspired by the works of (Katsushika) Hokusai and (Utagawa) Hiroshige, two renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artists whose masterpieces continue to resonate with me. Their approach to art, particularly their use of geometric shapes and the way they connect these forms to the natural world has also shaped my artistic philosophy.
I have a fascination with the interplay between simple forms and nature. It influences how I approach my work. I also find beauty in the minimalism of Neolithic architecture like the standing stones & circles with their ability to evoke a sense of reverence for the natural world. In my art, I seek to create pieces that echo this simplicity—using lines and shapes that evoke natural forms, whether it's the curve of a tree branch or the angularity of a mountain range.
Life has been a fascinating journey of change, discovery, and personal growth. I am excited to explore the limitless possibilities that creativity offers.
